OFF ROAD

What is Cultural Festival OFF ROAD?
OFF ROAD is more than 50 cultural experiences.
OFF ROAD opens in Herning on 11 April and ends in Skive May 6, 2017.
OFF ROAD takes place in the municipalities of Lemvig, Struer, Holstebro, Skive, Ringkøbing-Skjern, Herning and Ikast-Brande.
OFF ROAD is organized by the association Cultural Cooperation in Central and Western Jutland and is part of the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017.

TIME, SITE & LORE is an OFF ROAD collaboration between four historical museums, five Central and West Jutland sites, five international contemporary artists and the association ET4U - Contemporary Visual Art Projects West Jutland - on free artistic interpretations of selected museum objects. Five artists have been on a short research trip to Central and Western Jutland in October 2016 and based on this they have each created a video on a selected museum piece. The video works are shown at the respective museums during the OFF ROAD Festival. During the video and performance festival MEETINGS 1.-10. September the videos will be shown both on the sites from which the museum objects originate, and again at the museums.

TIME, SITE & LORE (Struer)
Struer Museum show the video "The Wardrobe Dream" (excerpt of a work in progress, the final version will be shown 1st-10th September) by visual artist Bassem Yousri (Egypt) inspired by the material on ”The Wardrobe-man”, and the video "Girl with Blue Beads" by visual artist Gunilla Josephson (Sweden/Canada) based on ”The Queen’s pearls”.
- Place: Struer Museum, Søndergade 23, 7600 Struer
- Date: 11. April – 6. May 2017
- Opening time: Tuesday-Friday 12:00-16:00, Saturday-Sunday and national holidays 12:00-17:00.
- Admission fee: Admission fee to Struer Museum: Adults 60 DKK, Students 50 DKK, Children and adolescents below 18 admission free. Groups, minimum 15 persons, 50 DKK per person.
- Organizers/ project participants: Struer Museum, visual artist Bassem Yousri (Egypt), visual artist Gunilla Josephson (Sweden/Canada), Finn Skaarup and Jan Bjerglund from Humlum, Søren Raarup from Oddesund Nord, and the association ET4U – Contemporary Visual Art Projects Westjutland.        

 

TIME, SITE & LORE (Lemvig)
Lemvig Museum shows the video "War Scraps at Lemvig Museum" (excerpt of a work in progress, the final version will be shown 1st-10th September) by visual artist Sadik Kwaish Al Fraji (Iraq/Netherland) inspired by the material on ”Autograph book from the refugee camp in Rom”.
- Place: Lemvig Museum, Vestergade 44, 7620 Lemvig
- Date: 11. April – 6. May 2017
- Opening time: During office hours Tuesday-Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-12:00 (ring the bell) and Sunday and national holidays 13:00-16:00.
- Admission fee: Admission fee to Lemvig Museum: 25 DKK, Common ticket with Jens Søndergaard’s Museum: 40 DKK, Children and adolescents below 18 admission free. Discounts for groups notified in advance.

TIME, SITE & LORE (Skive)
Fur Fossiler 55.000.000 år shows the video "Tribute to a Dead Oar" by visual artist Yuval Yairi (Israel) based on ”Oar from the Fursund ferry 1908”.

- Opening time: Weekdays 12:00-16:00, Weekends and national holidays 10:00-17:00.
- Admission fee: Admission fee to Fur Fossiler 55.000.000 år: 65 DKK, Children (0-17 years) admission free. Discounts for larger groups.
- Organizers/ project participants: Fur Fossiler 55.000.000 år, visual artist Yuval Yairi (Israel), Troels Madsen and Lasse Højgaard from Fur, and the association ET4U – Contemporary Visual Art Projects Westjutland.

 

TIME, SITE & LORE (Holstebro)
The Open-Air Museum Hjerl Hede shows the video "A house that floats" by visual artist Gigi Scaria (India) inspired by ”The Sule Farm”.

- Date: 11.-17. April and 1.–6. May 2017
- Opening time: Every day 10:00-16:00.
- Admission fee: Admission fee to the Open-Air Museum Hjerl Hede: Adults 70 DKK, Pensioners and students 55 DKK, Children and adolescents below 18 admission free.
